The students in the MHSc in Medical Physiology are required to complete a work integrated learning experience. The practicum is a critical component of the MHSc program (completed in the third term) because it allows students to gain supervised application of their physiology knowledge and skills in an approved work setting.
The students will be evaluated on their integration and participation in the work environment and their ability to perform required tasks. The placement supervisor will submit a written report on each student using a standard format that will be shared with the student at the start of the practicum. Additionally, students will network with other employees and potential employers providing them with valuable contacts for career development. At the placement, students will apply knowledge gained from their course work and gain practical skills in a real work environment.
