Forty-seven years ago, the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto established "The Archibald Byron Macallum Lectureship" in memory of Professor Macallum who was Chair of this Department from 1891 to 1908.  This Lectureship was made possible through a generous donation to the Department from the Estate of Alexander Douglas Macallum, Professor Macallum's son.  The Lectureship is awarded annually to a highly distinguished physiologist whose work closely aligns with one of the four Research Platforms in the Department.
