Physiology Celebrates Dr. Belsham!
Very many congratulations to Dr. Denise Belsham on receipt of the prestigious 2023 President's Teaching Award and Connaught Innovation Award!
PRESIDENT'S TEACHING AWARD: Denise Belsham is amongst four recipients of the President’s Teaching Award for 2023, in recognition of their ongoing contributions to educational leadership and innovation and their sustained excellence in teaching. The President’s Teaching Award is the university’s highest honour for teaching. Winners receive $10,000 per year for five years to be used towards professional development. They also become members of the U of T Teaching Academy, which meets regularly to discuss matters relevant to teaching and offers advice to the president and the vice-president and provost, as well as the director of the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation. CONNAUGHT INNOVATION AWARD: Denise Belsham is amongst twelve researchers at the University of Toronto who are receiving Connaught Innovation Awards to help accelerate the development and commercialization of promising technologies with strong socio-economic potential that will have a positive impact on society. “The University of Toronto congratulates this year’s recipients, whose work is addressing some of society’s most important challenges,” said Leah Cowen, U of T’s vice-president, research and innovation, and strategic initiatives. “From energy-saving windows to the use of plant hormones as appetite suppressants (Dr. Belsham) or the development of therapeutic targets that hold promise for a broad range of neurodegenerative diseases, these researchers’ inventions have the potential to make life-changing impacts here in Canada and around the world.” More on this year’s recipients
