To be awarded to graduate students in the Department of Physiology in recognition of the student's achievements to date and future potential. This scholarship is tenable only while the student is present as a full-time graduate student under the supervision of a primary or cross-appointed member of the Department of Physiology. The student must continue to seek external peer review funding from other university, provincial and national sources.
Kraicer Award
Dr. Jack Kraicer has been dedicated to the academic excellence of our students for many years. Through his directorship of the CIHR grant writing course he has touched the academic lives of all of our PhD students in the Department. To acknowledge this dedication and contribution, this award has been named in his honour. The Kraicer award is given to recognize excellence in scholarship during doctoral studies in the Department of Physiology. Each year the award winner will receive an inscribed plaque and $1,000.
PPEF - Dr. Albert and Dorris Fields Graduate Scholarships in Cardiovascular Physiology
To be awarded annually on a competitive basis to the top graduate students (international or domestic) enrolled in a full-time PhD program in cardiovascular sciences in the Department of Physiology. This award is by nomination by the department.
The Dr. John Hepburn Award
This award was established by the estate of Dr. Ruben D. Grant 2T8, in honour of Dr. John Hepburn 2T1, a cardiologist and teacher in the University. This award is given each year by the Medical Alumni Association, on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Physiology, to one of the Physiology graduate students in cardiovascular research.
Yuet Ngor Wong Awards
To support graduate students (MSC and PhD) and Postdoc Fellows in the Department of Physiology. Graduate students (MSc and PhD) will be supported in the amount of $10,000 each and Postdoc Fellows in the amount of $20,000 each. Preference will be given to those working in the areas related to data sciences, women's health, fetal/infant health, and rare diseases.
