Sexual Harassment Guidelines and Policies
Students and employees of the University of Toronto who are involved in any way in a sexual harassment case related to their University study or work have access to University resources for advice, counseling and assistance.
The University and affiliated hospitals/research institutes are responsible for ensuring that the environment is safe and is free from harassment for university students and employees. If a formal complaint of harassment is made within the affiliated hospital/research institute, the University may also have jurisdiction.
If you are sexually harassed during study or work on or off campus, the University strongly recommends that you immediately contact the Universitys Sexual Harassment Office for confidential information and help. The Sexual Harassment Officer can help identify options and assist in the complaint process.
If a complaint of sexual harassment is made against you, the University likewise strongly recommends that you immediately contact the Universitys Sexual Harassment Office. The Sexual Harassment Officer can provide confidential advice and guidance.
In the event that a University student or employee reports a sexual harassment complaint to the academic unit, for example to a supervisor or graduate coordinator in the Department or Faculty, it is the responsibility of the academic unit to contact the University's Sexual Harassment Office immediately. It is also the role of the academic unit to help arrange alternate study plans or additional academic assistance as necessary for University students.
