Research Interests

My laboratory is focused on the molecular mechanisms which regulate exocytosis, using two models- the neuroendocrine insulin-secreting pancreatic islet beta cell and the epithelial pancreatic acinar cell which secrete digestive enzymes.

Research Interests

Research focuses on pulmonary vascular inflammation and vasoconstriction. Specific interests include mechanisms of immunological dysregulation in pulmonary arterial hypertension, including both innate immune activation and B cell dysfunction and autoimmunity.

Research Interests

Respiratory muscle action and function during mechanical ventilation; mechanisms of lung and diaphragm injury in respiratory failure; management of acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, and extracorporeal life support

Research is directed towards understanding the genetic causes and physiology of cardiac heart rhythm disorders through use of human genetic studies, bioinformatics, cellular electrophysiology and mouse models.

Research is directed towards cystic fibrosis, assessing CFTR function and interaction with other epithelial channels in human airway and intestinal cells.

Clinical Interests

Next to lab-based research, we also perform clinical research focused on CFTR-related disorder, gastrointestinal disease in CF and pancreas diseases in children.

Mechanisms of dilated cardiomyopathy; Ca2+ regulation in skeletal and cardiac muscle; formation of specialized protein domains in muscle; cardiovascular proteomics.
